I enjoyed flipping through the year and seeing all the patterns available. There are more than enough for a beginning knitter like me and there are many more advanced patterns too.
This year's calendar is not nearly as good as last years. Lots of cute patterns. I have the 2008 calendar and really enjoyed it. A lot of the patterns are from large pattern companies(from free patterns off their sites) rather than from individuals. So, I was looking forward to the 2009 calendar. If I had been able to look through it before purchasing it, I wouldn't have. I liked the patterns that came from the average everyday knitter--they were cute and things that I would like to make. There are some nice patterns, but overall, I was disappointed.
The new patterns everyday give insipiration and add to imagination. I love not knowing what's coming until the next day. I've been known to change to the next day and go to the store if I don't already have what I need to complete it.
Nice idea. Most projects are very easy and kind of boring. If you're a new knitter, this might be worth while. But otherwise, don't waste your money.Oh and just FYI, many patterns take up mulitple days, so it's not actually "a pattern a day."
One would be kind of kitchy, but three.I found a few things that I liked - pirate hat, a nice bag, sushi (I know another reviewer didn't like that, but I think the knitted food is kind of fun for nieces and nephews), and a few hats (including the cover one). But to have TWO patterns for bookmarks (even a beginning beginner could figure out how to make a bookmark.).
I really feel like spreading the patterns out over days is cheating - especially, for example, the picture on the cover of the box. Like others, I've been disappointed.
No joke. Most of the patterns are overly simple and some are really ugly. Day one is the pattern.
Day two, the instructions are to block the hat. and THREE patterns for "mini bags" designs to hold cotton balls.
But really, you could do much better in an on-line search.
